And the winner is...

There are several possible answers to the question of the origins of the phrase "wearing your heart on your sleeve." Historical linguists cannot agree. Some say the phrase came from Shakespeare's Othello, others indicate it came from the times of jousting knights when the knights would wear the colors of their lady on sashes tied to their arms.
