I still think I can scrap

Hi bloggers! Life has been a bit crazy and I've completely neglected posting.
I'm still hanging in on Colorful Creations' So You Think You Can Scrap contest. Each week gets more and more challenging.

Week 6 brought us this sketch:
along with the following criteria: monochromatic, stay true to the sketch, die cut, border punch, flowers (at least 2 handmade), butterflies, and bling. I definitely had to put on my thinking cap and reach into the photo vault for this one!

Week 7 was even more of a challenge for me. We were asked to stay true to this sketch:

We were required to add handstitching, misting, fussy cutting, and only the colors red, blue, yellow, and green. My creative brain really wasn't functioning well on this one at all. I struggled with it, but eventually came up with:
I *really* wanted to use a white or kraft background for this page. I think everything would've popped and come together better. Oh well, we can't love every page that we do. At least it's one more memory scrapped.

That brings us up to this week. I had a bunch of fun and was able to one of my favorite color combinations. We were given the parameters of  NO manufactured patterned paper, create your own patterned paper, use some kind of metal, a punch, journaling card, and mixed alphas.
I created the aqua pattern using some ink and an embossing folder. For the red paper, I stamped some doodled circles in black ink and then stamped hearts in different shades of acrylic paint. I had to put on my thinking cap of how to incorporate a journaling card into the page design. I finally settled on doing a semi-hidden card that can be pulled out to be read. Overall, I am very pleased with this page.

I have several other pages to share. I'll be back in another post to do that.
